Breastfeeding – The Best Option For Your Baby
If you have a baby, breastfeeding is definitely the best way to feed. It has numerous advantages over bottle feeding and hardly any disadvantages. Over 1 million babies die each year as a result of being fed formula!
Breast milk provides the perfect nutrients that your baby needs and even protects them from illnesses. Studies have found that infants who were breast fed have much lower rates of ear infections, rashes, diarrhea, allergies, hospital admissions and other medical problems than babies that were fed formula.
Infant formula is made from cow’s milk but the problem with this is that it contains a different type of protein than human milk does and also doesn’t contain the right nutrients that babies need. Human infants have trouble digesting this protein and as a result they are usually much fatter than breast fed babies. Human milk has at least 100 ingredients that aren’t found in formula.
When a mother breastfeeds her child, her antibodies are also transferred to the baby. This protects the baby from diseases and illnesses such as pneumonia, bronchitis, botulism, influenza, staphylococcal infections, measles and ear infections. Around eighty percent of the cells in breast milk are cells that kill viruses, bacteria and fungi!
Unlike bottle feeding, breastfeeding makes the mother cuddle her baby closely numerous times each day. The infant will get a sense of security from this and will form a better attachment with the mother. Nursing is a source of comfort and warmth to a baby.
Also, if you breastfeed, you won’t need to buy expensive formulas. When your baby starts crying you won’t have to go warm up a bottle because the food is ready all the time. Breastfeeding even uses up calories in the mother which makes it much easier to lose weight after pregnancy.
There are some cases in which you should not breastfeed. If you are HIV positive, you should not nurse your baby because this virus can pass through the milk. Some other illnesses that can be transmitted to your baby are hepatitis, herpes and beta streptococcus infections. If you have one of these illnesses talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
If you are going to breastfeed, you should be aware that is can be painful when you first start doing it. Also, your nipples may get sore, cracked, or engorged. You will need to nurse regularly or your breasts will get very uncomfortable because of being so full. You will be much more tied to your baby than a mother that feeds formula.
Once you have your baby, you should breastfeed as soon as possible, preferably within an hour of delivery. You won’t be producing milk yet then but you will have colostrums which is a fluid that contains antibodies to diseases. Newborn babies need to be nursed at least every two hours. Once they get older they will settle into a more regular schedule.
If you are a new parent you will certainly want to give your baby the best you can. Breast milk is how you can do this. It contains everything your baby needs and will make him much happier and healthier.

An Introduction to Baby Car Seats
Becoming a parent for the first time involves a huge amount of learning, as there are hundreds of things involved which childless people will have had no reason to come across before, nor had any incentive to learn about. When you first learn of the impending new arrival, your thoughts will probably be taken up with decorating and equipping a nursery, buying clothes, bottles, and much more, but many people don’t think of a baby car seat until later on in the pregnancy. It’s very important to make sure you know what to look for in a seat, as after all, you’ll need one on your baby’s very first journey, from the hospital back to home.
For this first journey, you’ll need a seat which faces towards the rear of your vehicle. This provides the best protection in the event of an impact for an infant who is unable yet to support the weight of their own head. The seat will be nicely reclined backwards, providing a safe and comfortable coccoon for your baby.
It’s important to choose a rear-facing seat which is sturdy and dependable, yet light to carry. Young babies sleep a little and often, and the last thing you want to do after finally getting your child to sleep in a car journey is to wake them by removing them from their warm and cosy seat. Having an easily detachable model which is light to carry means you can ferry your baby from car to house with as little disturbance as possible.
These rear facing seats are only suitable for younger infants. Once they’ve grown to weigh around 20 pounds, or the top of their head is nearing the upper edge of the seat and thus no longer protected properly, you’ll need to move to a forward facing seat.
These seats are much more upright, but better models can be adjusted to provide a more horizontal position to help your toddler sleep during longer journeys. Because of the upright position, it’s essential that your child is able to sit up on their own before using this kind of seat. Forward facing seats are built to last for a fair few years, and most will be good until your child reaches the age of 4 or 6.
Before we finish, there are two extremely important things to bear in mind when buying a car seat.
Firstly, you should be very careful when buying one that isn’t brand new. Although it might seem like an economy to get a second hand seat, there’s no way of knowing for sure its history. It may have been involved in an accident at some point in the past, resulting in weaknessess that may not be visible to the naked eye. These weaknesses could endanger your baby even in a minor accident. You should only buy a used seat when you can be absolutely sure of the history – such as when buying off close friends or family.
Finally, baby car seats shouldn’t be fitted in front seats where an airbag is fitted. In an accident, the inflation of the airbag could cause serious injury or suffocation to a child, so always fit car seats in the rear of the vehicle in this case.
Simone writes for Nappies From Hell, a guide for new parents, where you can read more about baby car seats and other aspects of moving about with your new arrival.

Are You Searching For a Baby Eczema Treatment? (Info You Should Know)
If you are, there should be a few underlying principles that guide your search and condition your thinking while you are looking.
You will want to consider that not all eczema treatments treat every user equally. Eczema is credited as being an irrational or overbearing response of the immune system. You can very well find that a treatment that works fine for you offers your cousin no help. The reason for this is that your immune system reacts differently to different stimuli.
You need to remember that there is no cure for eczema. The best you can do is either get rid of it by out growing it etc, but do not expect to get a medicine that will cure the cause of eczema. Now while there is no cure, there are a wide variety of baby eczema treatments that will bring the impact of eczema down to a quiet whisper. You can look for and use the treatments that will reduce inflammation and also moisturize the skin.
You also need to know that many treatments for baby eczema can involve side effects. In this regard, the prescribed treatments are the primary offenders. The side effects involved range from a simple but vengeful flare up that carries a lot of vengeance, and is very difficult to get under control all the way up to skin cancer. The products that put your baby at risk of getting skin cancer will say so right on the box. Just like how cigarettes have a warning on the pack, so does some of the dangerous eczema medicines.
You need to be aware that some baby eczema treatment options do not begin to work with the initial treatment. An example of this phenomenon is oral steroids. They may take up to a few days before any relief is noticed, but once they begin to work they do a good job, but here again you have risks from side effects. This does you no good when you have a baby that is itching right now.
These are some of the considerations that need to be made. Once you remember these few facts, you have the building blocks to use to make sound judgments that will benefit you for as long as you have to care for a baby with eczema.
And now I would like to offer you access to information that you really should know about. 2 Very Common Eczema Treatments; 1 Very Good, 1 Very Bad when you subscribe to Eczema Free, a biweekly eczema tip sheet. You can get it right here Eczema Treatments.
Are you really interested in properly treating your eczema; stopping the itch and reducing flare-ups? Here is your answer. You really should know about Baby Eczema too.

The Art of Reborn Baby Dolls – As Real As They Get
The latest rage in dolls and doll collecting has been reborn dolls. Odd name you may think for dolls but it’s because of the process of making these dolls, that they get their name.
Reborn dolls are highly realistic looking dolls made of vinyl that begin their life as ordinary dolls which are taken apart and reassembled. This is where the name (reborn) comes from. The artists put in a lot of time and effort to ensure that the dolls look and feel as real as possible. These dolls are becoming highly sought after by collectors and amateurs alike due to the realism of the doll.
A lot of hard work and hours are put into making these reborn dolls, every minute detail is performed to create a lifelike looking doll. The result of all this hard work is when you look at a reborn doll it will many times be mistaken for a real baby. You would expect at any time for it to cry or laugh out loud. It is no wonder that these masterpieces are hardly toys for children to play with, these are a different dolls all together.
The reborn process is methodical and precise, every step is taken to detail to ensure that the artist can basically start out with a new doll and put it all together to resemble a newborn baby. After the doll has been taken apart and stripped of all factory paint and hair, to remove any remaining residual of paint and glue it is then bathed and thoroughly dried. This routine is simply the first step to a reborn.
After the last process the doll is now ready for the artist who hand roots its hair, usually Angora Kid mohair is used. To make the doll realistic, hair is sealed from the inside, this allows for styling the hair of which it is then hand-dyed to a particular color. The next stage is for the doll to be painted from the inside by in order to give it a natural looking skin tone.
After the doll is completely dry, the artist will use oil paint or oil based pastels to create and highlight natural looking skin creases on the outside, by doing this the doll looks even more lifelike. Eyebrows are hand-painted using acrylic paint, the same applies to the lips except these are finished with gloss sealer.
For the sleeping babies hand rooted mohair is used for their eyelashes, and for the open eyed babies glue is used. Finally the nose of the doll is opened by the artist so that the doll can breathe (remember this is a baby), after which he lines the opening with black felt and lastly the doll’s fingernails and toenails are painted and sealed with white tips.
Now that the doll has been reassembled most frequently an artist likes to fill the limbs with high quality sand this gives a realistic weight to the doll. Each of the limbs are topped with poly fill and sealed with glue. More often than not an artist likes to fill the doll with craft pellets, glass beads or metal balls this is to add to the weight as poly fill is more for making the baby look plump. After the head has been put in place, the artist takes great care in painting fine lines to resemble the veins and ears.
The completed doll is now the most realistic looking doll to date. It’s become highly sought after as collectibles and conversation pieces. A lot of adult people who buy these dolls or reborn babies actually take time out to go shopping and buy complete baby outfits, all matching colors. It is not unusual for them to have a high quality stroller to push their babies about. After all, these reborns look so lifelike that walking past a stroller would make most people stop and admire the baby.
If you love reborn dolls then you will love the Reborn Doll Shop. A site dedicated to bringing you the best reborn baby dolls, clothing, accessories and kits.

Why You Need to Give Baby Shower Thank You Cards
A baby shower is a tradition that started many years ago. During a baby shower, friends, families and relatives would gather up in a specific location and congratulate the expected mother during her 7-8 month pregnancy. It is becoming popular to hold a shower to celebrate for the expected mother and men are joining in as well.
When you receive a gift it is only proper to express your thanks. As for baby showers, the expected mother needs to send out baby shower thank you cards to show appreciation for the gifts she received during the event. It is best not to neglect this even though it might seem small.
A baby shower is usually done as a way to help the expected mother with her baby expenses. With food and drinks to go around, it would be a great day to be remembered. Normally, the expected mother would receive diaper cakes, toys, blankets, clothing and other accessories to accommodate the baby.
If you received a gift that is very meaningful, share your story to the giver through thank you cards. From toys to blankets, share a story with the giver through the thank you cards. You need to be humble and express your thanks with more than just words.
Remember to give your baby shower thank you cards as soon as possible. You don’t want to leave your gift givers hanging for a few months. That will be rude and unforgivable. Write your thank you card the night after the shower and ship it the next day so they can receive it within the week.

Handling Your Baby’s First Bath
You are about to experience your baby’s first bath and you are feeling clumsy and nervous about it. Here are the 5 tips to get you going smoothly and safely to get your baby clean!
Five Tips for Bathing
Before giving your little one a bath, make sure you have everything you need within easy reach.
Use a baby bath support or baby bath seat or stick a few bath decals to the bottom of the bath tub to keep your baby from slipping or sliding in the bath.
Prepare a jug of hot water to top up the baby bath just in case it has cooled too much by the time you are ready for it.
Keep dry nappies, towel and a change of babywear beyond splashing distance.
To avoid frightening your baby during bath, don’t pull the plug until he/she is out of the bath as the gurgling sound of the water might frighten them.
Get everything you will need during bath time as you won’t be able to leave your baby alone unattended. You can choose to use a baby bath tub or infant bath seat, whichever is convenience and easy for you.
Don’t overfill the bath – just about a hand’s length of water is enough. Always check with the thermometer or elbow to ensure the water is comfortably warm, probably cooler than what you would like the bath yourself.
First, remove the baby’s nappy and clean the nappy area. Next, undress him and wrap him in a towel and proceed to clean his face. Before putting your baby in the bath, you might want to shampoo his hair first as a baby gets cold quickly in a bath. Hold him with his legs under your arms so that your forearm supports his back and your hand holds his head. With his head over the bath, wet, shampoo and rinse his hair.
To lower your baby into the bath, reach under his shoulders with one hand, so that your forearm supports him while your hand firmly grasps his shoulder and arm on the far side. Using the other hand, lift his bottom as you firmly hold one thigh, and then lower him slowly into the water.
Talk to your baby to reassure him as he feels the water. While maintaining a grip on him at all times, use the other hand to wash his body. When he is clean and rinsed, lift him out onto a large dry towel and wrap him quickly. Pat dry, being especially careful in the creases.

Picking The Right Baby Gift
The Baby Gift – that most difficult of gifts to figure out; the gift that must stand the test of time. The Baby Gift must be as relevant to its recipient years from now as it is right now. How do you purchase this gift correctly? With a lot of care and forethought of course!
Bring A Smile
The Baby Gift should make that child smile like sunbeams. There are fewer things that can make someone feel good than the genuine smile of appreciation that only a baby can give. That is why picking the right gift is so important. You want the child to be extremely happy about your choice, or you will end up feeling like a grinch. So analyze the situation and study what the child likes. How he behaves will usually give you some clue as to what interests him or arouses his curiosity. When you do this, you can get an idea as to what gift to get that child.
Something you should not do is look at the cost. More expensive gifts are not necessarily that much better. Think of purchasing something that has some use to the recipient. Whether it be something he can hug or something that can amuse him for a few hours, the item should have some utility. Buying a bejeweled scepter to hang over the crib is not going to cut it.
Sensible Choices
Safety must be above all. No use in giving the best and greatest gift if it is going to potentially hurt the baby. So do not give glass or wooden objects with sharp edges as they are accidents waiting to happen. Look for something that is non-toxic. Obviously, babies are more sensitive than adults when it comes to chemicals and materials. Always keep in safety in mind when you are considering your choices.
Also, as mentioned before, do not make the price tag a consideration. Babies have no concept of material wealth in the first place. So do not even make that a consideration. Instead, focus on how the item will engage a child and hold his attention. Stuff like books and audio CDs would fit into this category. Even if the child is really too young to understand, images and sounds will generate brain activity and development. This type of Baby Gift not only engages the child, but teaches him something as well. So think about your gift choice long and hard. Think about the drawbacks and benefits so you can make a better choice.
Whatever Baby Gift you end up giving, make sure that it is something the child will treasure, even when he grows up. It should be a gift with a lot of sentimentality and love in it, not some generic thing you picked out of the store. You will be very happy when you talk to the child about the gift when he grows older. You will have shared joy and love with an innocent soul and few things can beat that.
